Excerpt of the Month

Robyn shuddered as they heard the call from downstairs, "Open the door, in the name of the Queen!"

"Oh...what if they find Father Bale?" Nica whispered with a little sob.

"Pray!" Miriam urged quietly.

Robyn and Nica shut their eyes tight, murmering Hail Mary's.

After about five minutes, they could hear the soldiers on the stairway. People were shouting. Somewhere downstairs, Robyn heard crying, probably from the maids. Then the room door burst open.

"Captain, seven in here!"

"Escort them to the hall!" was the brief answer.

"D'ye hear? Get them up!"

Nearby, Robyn heard the boys yawn, very convincingly. She, Nica, and Miriam had no problems pretending to be asleep—they were petrified with fear. That is, until Mrs. Adyn brushed her hand over their faces.

"Wake up, girls," she told them.

"What time is it? Where are we?" Nica murmered, loud enough for any soldiers present to hear.

"It's around four. We're at the Manor—remember the event earlier?"

"Oh, yes. Why are we getting up at four?" Robyn wanted to know.

"Get them up!" someone barked.

Within a couple of minutes, they were all being led to a hallway. They were shoved in with a bunch of other people, then the door was slammed closed again. Robyn looked around. Someone had lit a candle, and the light flickered about the room. There were about a score of other people standing around.

Two hours later, the soldiers were leaving. Everyone had been told they could return to their rooms.

"Thank God, they didn't find Father Bale," Nica smiled, whispering under her breath so that only Robyn could hear.

St. Philomena's Workshop

St. Philomena's Workshop, or SPW, is a group for Traditional Roman Catholic girls to write, sew, garden, sing, and draw together, either for fun or for profit.

Our Purpose

We consider ourselves the 'Catholic Girl Scouts'. We bake, sew, write and draw together just like normal girl scouts, but, unlike normal girl scouts, we only accept Catholic girls, and we work under the patronage of St. Philomena.

Our Shop

Our sewn items are always homemade; our books are written by members. We are planning a cookbook from the Culinary Division, a song book from the Arts Division, and maybe even a book of plays from the Studios.

Our Members

Philomena Dashjr is the current SPW CEO. She is working on L'Impératrice d'Irlande, A Lady and her Maid, Titanic Two, Mon Histoire, and La Frihetsgruppe.

Tasmyn Hutchenson is the current SPW Secretary. She is working on A Lady and her Maid. She has recently completed Ma Nouvelle Famille.

Dotti Pépine is the current SPW CFO. She has recently completed Roche Manor One, Roche Manor Two, and Titanic One, and is working on La Frihetsgruppe, and Titanic Two.

J. Anne Marie Halenbien is the current Captain of the Arts Division. She is busy designing covers for the DePainne Series.

Sarah Dedrick is the current Captain of the Culinary Division.

Maria Starr is the current Captain of the Writing Division, and is working on McKenzie

Agnes M. C. Bluewall is the current Captain of the Studios Division, and has been voted Winner of the Logo competition.

Therese Rosemary is a Junior Member, and is drawing pictures for the SPW Art Competitions.

Germaine Fidelis is a SPW writer. Currently, she is working on Mass at Midnight, an exciting story of three girls in Elizabethan England.

Agnes Dashjr is a Junior Member, as well as Captain of the Sewing Division.

Cecilia Dashjr is a Junior Member who likes to jump around and play (in this case, the Junior Member is a very, very junior Junior Member).

Rita Marosa is currently working on EngelBlanche.

Lucie Crane is an artist of SPW.

Louisa Marie is a young cook.
